About two years ago, a show began airing on FOX called Touch. It starts out being introduced to Martin Bohm(Kiefer Sutherland) and his 11 year old son. His son, Jake, has a special gift. He communicates to his Dad by using numbers and patterns. In the first season, the episodes tell stories about how the decisions that we make can impact and sometimes save the life of someone next door or even around the world.
This really got me thinking about all of the connections that we have made through Jake’s Diapers. My cousin, Laurie, who is currently living in Germany with her husband and son, cloth diapers her son and shared the information with her friends. Laurie and her friends started getting donations together to help impact children in Peru and beyond. What an amazing experience to receive a box of cloth diapers and supplies from Germany.
One of my fellow high school graduates, Jenni, now lives in Florida with her family and has begun a Pillowcase Dress Ministry. They make dresses from pillowcases and send them to orphanages in Belize and beyond. We went to a small high school together and knew each other but didn’t talk very much then. Lately, we have been exchanging emails and talking about each other ministries. God’s love just shines through Jenni and what she is doing with her Pillowcase Dress Ministry is so important. I am looking forward to working together with her to help impact the lives of children all over the world.
These are just a few of the stories that come to mind right now. I feel so blessed at what God is doing in these ministries. There are so many other stories and I am excited about the connections that will be made. I also love hearing other people’s stories. If you have a connection story that you would like to share, I would love to hear it.
