We received a giant box of cloth diapers and assorted baby items back in November, along with this letter:
Dear Jake’s Diapers for Peru,
I sent you a message on Facebook a few months ago asking if you accepted homemade cloth diapers for your cause. You said you did, and so I hope this dipeys can find some darling little tushies to help out in some small way. They are all a little different, and I don’t claim to be a seamstress, but I sure try. They were made on a very cheap Walmart sewing machine with lots and LOTS of love from us to you.
Today is a special day. It is my daughter’s 2nd birthday, and she is the reason I began making cloth diapers in the first place. You will find that a few of these diapers are slightly worn, from being used by our little one. Most of them are brand new, never been used, but have been prewashed to prep and shrink them. I hope to start a new tradition with my daughter, that for our birthdays we give something to someone else, rather than just get stuff. Also, in the spirit of Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, I thought it was a perfect time to finally get all of this headed your way. I don’t know if you can use any of the other baby items, but if you don’t send them to one of your third world countries, please donate them to a Goodwill, needy family, etc etc. We wanted them to go to someone who needs them really bad. The bags are all a little hodge podge, but I thought maybe someof the mamas could use them as a diaper bag?
Anyway, thank you for the good that you do. We may send another box of dipes someday! God bless you and all those fluffy bums receiving your service!
Heather & Emmy
The diapers from the box made their way to the Real Hope for Haiti Rescue Center, and you can see some of the fluffy cuteness in these pictures!!! The other items are making their way to new homes as well. Some of the items went to a nearby family who lost their home in a fire, and other items are making their way to other babies in need around the world through a new collaboration we’re working on! (We’ll tell you that story another day…!). The work we do here at Jake’s Diapers is truly a gift from God, as we feel called to help those in need. Thank you to Heather, Emmy, and many, many more who are working together to be the change. God’s Blessings! –Team Jake
